The Best OF Electronic and Dubstep Music

With a shady origin, the term 'trap' was literally used to refer to the place where the drug deals was made. Originating in the early years of 2000s, Trap music developed under the affect of Southern hip hop and Crunk in the Southern United States. Typical of its lyrical content and trademark sound, it incorporates 808 sub-bass kick drums, sped-up hi-hats, layered synthesizers, and cinematic strings.

The popularity of this genre underwent a mount when more recently the electronic music producers and DJs began to incorporate elements of trap into their works, making it well-liked among the electronic music fans. The dance music also has a noticeable impact of music owing to its stylistic offshoots.

The history of this genre can be found narrated in music blogs citing its beginning closely tied to the drugs trade. The names of UGK and 6 Mafia are worth mentioning to quote pioneers in the genre. The famed names for trap in recent times include 808 Mafia, Southside, Sonny Digital and Young Chop, while the year 2012 remained inscribed with the successful hits by Chief Keef's "I Don't Like" and "Love Sosa".

Labeled as the new dubstep, trap continues to grow as it paves ways for sub-genres such as 'Acid trap", "trap-ah-ton", and "trapstep". The unremitting growth of this genre and the ever growing number of music blog is evident for its mainstream recognition.

Further to the generics, it is interesting to note that initially the music was dubbed simply as "trap" by producers and fans, referring to the music of both rappers and electronic producers. Hence, instead of referring to a single genre, this term is used to describe two separate genres of rap and dance music.
